past perfect subjunctive

For the past perfect subjunctive the auxiliary verb is used with a past participle. Both the -ra and -se forms can be used.

1. This tense is used to indicate an action prior to the main verb when the verb is in preterit, imperfect or pluperfect.
- Sentia pena de que se hubieran ido solitos. (I felt ashamed/worried that they went on their own.)
2. It is used to in the si-clause if the sentence is expressing conditions contrary to the past.
- Si yo no hubiera tenido ese dinero, no se que hubiera hecho.
3. It is used with “ojala” to describe wishes of the past.
- Ojala te hubiera visto. (I wish I would have seen you.)
